PAST MEETS FUTURE: VINI JACOBS AND THE RISE OF RETRO-MODERN MOTORCYCLES
Binary opposites should not exist together and should most definitely not coexist well. Yet in a clash of modern and retro, the extraordinary is formed.
Vini Jacobs is an Italian born Englishman who has spent his entire life studying the shape and form of motorcycles from the 90s, which is widely considered to be the ‘golden age’ of motorbike design. Jacobs spends his time locked away in his workshop, stripping “the boring, lifeless plastic bodies that hide today’s incredible modern engines, and replacing it with 90s inspired, custom made frames and plastics” creating a combination of innovative technology and striking design. Not only does he look to improve the motorbikes aesthetically, but Jacobs actually upgrades the performance of his creations. He does this by “replacing the cheap, heavy frames with custom made lighter frames, emphasising on the needs of the bike, not the wants of the user, so say goodbye to heated seats!”
Vini Jacobs is slowly but surely transforming the arguably grey and boxy modern world, into a harmonization of true expressive design and cutting-edge technology, creating a style that frees not just the rider, but every gaze it touches, and we are all here for it!
